Matiu/Somes Island Panoramas

Posted by Luke H on February 21st, 2011

A while ago we (Phil, Leanne, Jess and I) went on a great trip to Matiu/Somes Island with our sister, making it a four-Howison outing! I took a few panoramas.  What can I say, it’s just kind of my thing I guess!  :-) View over Wellington overlooking the lighthouse View of Petone from the WWII [...]

RMA Idiocy

Posted by Luke H on June 30th, 2009

The Dominion Post reports this morning that a coastal access road near Cape Kidnappers has been half-destroyed by coastal erosion. The astounding thing is, nature didn’t do this – the RMA did. A recent study has apparently put a dollar value on Fiordland National Park – NZ$228 million per year, to be precise. Given that it only costs $9 million to run, this makes the land extremely valuable. No wonder the Libertarianz’ policy is to privatize the park. The government and most left-wing and environmental groups would [...]
