Russian war correspondent Arkady Babchenko presents these amazing images of the war in Ossetia as he travels with Russian soldiers to Gori (hat tip Coming Anarchy).

Warning: the photographs on the linked site contain many graphic images of corpses.

The photographer did not get too close to the actual fighting, but he got close enough.

I wonder if this truck was hit by a mine, a shell, or a rocket … it is impossible to tell.

It would appear that whole cities have been all but destroyed.

Imagine how fierce the fighting must have been to destroy this tank. The bricks covering the turret are reactive armour.

The photographer was flown out with the injured Russian soldiers like this one.

I have not shown any of the many dead here. Soldiers and civilians alike lie dead on the landscape. Several died while escaping burning vehicles.

This image was taken from the medivac helicopter. I have no idea what the missile shown has been fired at.
