My Government plan is simple..

Become a member of Parliament, assassinate the Priminister, make a sad out cry about it, put yourself in the limelight, everyone will see you as a savior and the most favorable, once you’re elected Priminister, blow every one in parliaments’ heads out, make you’re new one. Purge the shit outta the country and you’ll be sweet.

PC: Most definitely. We discussed this at our last meeting, and will make some more plans at the meeting tonight. I believe Bernard is thinking of investing in a camera and creating a party Youtube account as a start. We can already put up the cinema ad and the opening address from last campaigns, and we’re developing some more ideas for content. Coordinated blogging efforts would also be rather useful next year.

I;d like to see Libz girding their loins to use the internet to better enable our campaign next year.

Whatever you may think about Ron Paul, his internet success shows that non-mainstream politics can derive enormous traction through this route, and we need to use it better than we are at the moment.

Craig: Yeah thats true. A strong but limited government would be the most difficult to overthrow, IMO. Also important is a politically aware citizenry and a strong civil society.

Writeups: I’ve added a link to your blog. The real revolution takes place in the minds of the people, right? But a coup d’etat is a way of avoiding the need for a revolution, since the change is top-down rather than bottom-up. I think the internet is a great enabler of bottom-up change, however I don’t think much of Ron Paul or his chances. Thats a topic for another post though…

Look how the internet is such an enabler of political campaigns in the US. Ron Paul for example has a greater online following than Clinton, Obama, Romney or Guiliani. Revolution is like a change in the way the population think, and that’s reflected in the way they vote. An overthrow of government would in most cases be superfluous to something that would happen anyway.

It seems that large, authoritarian governments are the most suited to be overthrown (run by an elite, heavily centralised bureaucracy and an autocratic parliament).

Handy that!

To my uninformed mind, guerrilla war seems to end in a stalemate more than anything else. Without a decisive blow and a noticeable change of power, it seems to go on in a constant struggle (e.g. Iraq).
