Heh heh.

As I’ve said before, the passing of a dictator is an occasion for celebration, but some in the committee are getting a bit defensive:

“Basically, the only thing we’re trying to do is have a venue, a giant venue ready for people, if they wish, to speak to the media, to show their emotions. It’s not that we’re doing an official death party,” Regalado said Monday.

Whatever. They shouldn’t be worried about people finding it macabre – the party is fully justified and I would love to own one of the planned official T-shirts :-)

One Response to “Miami to party it up on Castro’s death”

While I tend to agree with you, the issue is more than just about Castro’s death given Florida’s influential Cuban lobby. Once Fidel’s croaks, the US will be given an opportunity to change its policies toward the island and any party celebrating Fidel’s death seen as officially sanctioned by agents of the US government, would undermine the prospects for a changing strategy with regard to Cuba. A change we desperately need, if we are ever to free the people of the island from Castrite rule.
